618 Air Operations Center welcomes new commander

Brig. Gen. Kenneth T. Bibb succeeded Brig. Gen. Brian S. Robinson as commander, 618th Air Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center), in a change of command ceremony held here today.

The change of command took place at the Scott Club, where 618th AOC (TACC) members welcomed Bibb as their new commander and said goodbye to Robinson and his family. Lt. Gen. Samuel Cox, 18th Air Force commander, presided over the ceremony.

Bibb ascends to command after serving as the vice commander, 618th AOC (TACC), Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

As commander, he is responsible for planning, tasking, directing and assessing a fleet of approximately 1,100 aircraft in support of combat delivery and strategic airlift, air refueling and aeromedical operations around the world.

Bibb expressed enthusiasm for his new assignment and credited the expertise of the 618th AOC (TACC) total force team for making rapid global mobility a reality.

“I’ve heard some say that command is command, but I have to tell you there is something very special about this one,” said Bibb. “There is no team quite like this; because of their unmatched expertise and motivation, this team ensures the success of our nation’s most critical missions.”

General Bibb closed off his first speech as commander with appreciation for the opportunity to lead men and women of the one of the 618th AOC (TACC).

“With the blessings of the world’s greatest Airmen and the support of our nation we will succeed. I will give you my all in command; together we will sacrifice and serve,” said Bibb. “Thank you for you continued support of those who defend freedom. It is an honor and privilege to serve our great nation and take command of the 618th Air Operations Center, the TACC.”

The 618th AOC (TACC) is 18th Air Force's hub for planning, allocating executing and assessing combat airlift, air refueling, and aeromedical evacuation operations around the world. The 618th AOC (TACC) is heavily engaged in ensuring the swift and reliable deployment, re-deployment, and sustainment of U.S. and coalition forces overseas.

Robinson is moving on to become the Director of Operations, Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, Ill. In this position he will be responsible for policy and procedures for worldwide air operations and transportation functions assigned to the command. These functions include worldwide cargo and passenger movement, aerial refueling, aeromedical evacuation, Civil Reserve Air Fleet, air traffic control, C4 support systems, aircrew training and standardization programs.
